Certification
The National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) provides an ABA-approved certification of lawyers as specialists in child welfare law NACC Certification recognizes the best child welfare lawyers and encourages all child welfare lawyers, whether representing the child, the parent or the state agency or some other party, to develop the specialized knowledge required to work effectively in this area of practice. NACC Certification of the most experienced and capable lawyers for children has become an increasingly important means of professionalizing the field and identifying the emerging leadership and role models. Currently NACC child welfare law specialist certification is available in 17 states. NACC anticipates that certification will soon be available in 27 states.
QIC-ChildRep Fee Waiver
Starting in January 2011, funds provided by the QIC-Child Rep will allow the NACC to offer certification for one-half the normal $600 Certification Fees. The waiver will be applied to the $300 Application Fee on a first-come first-served basis to the first 200 applications submitted to the NACC. Attorneys who receive the QIC Child Rep Waiver will be responsible for the $300 Examination Fee. To be eligible for the Waiver attorneys must commit to sit for the exam if found eligible.
